Dynamic, modern, and full of life, Ljubljana remains one of the most sustainable and responsible cities on the continent. Its leafy parks make up the green heart of the city, where locals and tourists enjoy nature and tranquility. The Ljubljanica River is another of its great attractions, along which many of the cafes and restaurants are located. With the arrival of good weather, it's always a fun and lively atmosphere. The center of the city is characterized by its architecture, designed by the architect Jože Plečnik and considered to be a work of art. Some of the most emblematic places to enjoy are the Križanke theater, the three Tromostovje bridges, the Levstik square, the covered markets and the National University Library, among others.In the very center of Ljubljana is the castle. It offers a journey through the history of the city and you can climb up the tower to get the best views of the capital of Slovenia. Other essential places that deserve a visit are the Shoemakers Bridge, which is adorned with hanging shoes; the Mestni square,in the old town; or Preseren Square, named after the Slovenian writer of the same name and which serves as a meeting place for locals.
