    Tourist attractions Puerto Limón

    One of the most important ports in Costa Rica and, as its names suggests, found in the city of Limón. It is mainly a commercial centre, originally used to attract merchant vessels which transported bananas and grain to the rest of the world. Following various earthquakes, the port was left mostly destroyed. Nevertheless, the colourful markets and characterful architecture that surround it give the area a special charm. At night time, as well, it is very animated, replete with bars and restaurants. Christopher Columbus travelled here during his exploration of the New World.
