Sibiu

Tourist attractions Sibiu

Sibiu, located in the heart of Transylvania, is one of Romania’s most charming and cultural cities. Founded by Saxon settlers in the 12th century, it preserves a medieval old town with cobbled streets, fortified walls, and colorful houses with distinctive “eyes” on their roofs that seem to watch over visitors. Among its main attractions are the Great Square (Piața Mare), the Small Square (Piața Mică), the Bridge of Lies, and the impressive Evangelical Cathedral. Named European Capital of Culture in 2007, Sibiu blends its Germanic heritage with a lively artistic and culinary scene, and serves as a gateway to the stunning mountain landscapes of the Carpathians.
