Barrio de Boca

Known for art and football, La Boca is one of the most popular neighbourhoods in Buenos Aires. The neighbourhood is home to La Bombonera, the stadium of Boca Juniors, one of the most important teams in the country. Its name is due to its box-like shape. The striking colours of the houses, like those on Caminito, the most emblematic street, are the works of some of the greatest Argentinian artists, such as Benito Quinquela Martín who renovated the whole street in the 1950s, turning it into a work of art by strengthening the previous colours of the tenements. These buildings, which represent the typical architecture of the neighbourhood and originally housed immigrants, are another sight not to be missed. Nowadays in La Boca, various styles of crafts, souvenir shops and tango shows can be found.
